Tualatin Public Library Adds Second Storytime for Toddlers!
Beginning in February, Toddler Time for ages 18 months-3 years will be on Tuesdays at 9:30am and repeating at 10:30am at the Tualatin Public Library.
We'll clap, dance, laugh, and sing together as we celebrate the world of books and reading. These fast-paced, engaging storytimes are designed specifically for your active toddler!

Martin Luther King Jr. Day at Tigard Public Library

Celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday and his vision for improving human rights through non-violent measures.
Storyteller Rachel Foxman will perform a collection of world folktales that illuminate social justice and ways to mediate disputes peacefully. Ms. Foxman is a Resident Artist in Storytelling for Young Audiences in Oregon and southwest Washington.
The film "Martin's Big Words" will play throughout the day. Based on the book by Doreen Rappaport, the film depicts Dr. King's life through his own words. African-American traditions come alive in this story rich in culture and history.
Martin Luther King Jr. question-and-answer bookmarks will be available throughout the Library. Special displays on both floors of the Library will feature books about Dr. King available for checkout.

Coming Soon to North Plains Library...One Book, One Community
Beginning in January 2008 the residents of North Plains will come together for a "One Book, One Community" reading program, and all WCCLS card holders are welcome to join the program. The two month event will be filled with cultural and fun activities, tango dancing, book discussions, parties, cooking classes, movies, and more.
The entire event will be based on the book, The Shadow of The Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. Plans with this theme are in progress. A kick-off party is planned for January 12 at the North Plains Public Library (31334 NW Commercial Street, North Plains) with Spanish tapas and music. The month of February will follow with rich cultural and fun activities.
