Tigard Library hours are changing, beginning December 1

Beginning Sunday, December 1, the Tigard Library will have new hours:
  • Monday through Friday 10 a.m.-8 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
The slight change in hours can yield big results in terms of how efficiently we can help patrons.  Currently, our lowest use is from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weeknights. By closing an hour earlier, we can re-allocate staff to serve patrons during our busier times.

Most other libraries in the Washington County library cooperative (WCCLS) close at 8 p.m. or earlier. When we surveyed patrons earlier this year about changing operating hours, less than seven percent of respondents said it would affect them negatively. The City recently conducted performance audits, and the independent auditors recommended that the library close at 8 on weekdays.

Consistent weekend hours from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on both days will enhance service for patrons who can only visit the library on weekends. Plus, the new hours will be easier to remember!
